Operations Staff Training

The Need


Suffolk identified the need to offer a comprehensive training curriculum for its operations staff that are both in the office and the field. The curriculum is representative of seven operations competencies associated with project management and field supervision roles.

The Solution


Approximately 30 individual courses were identified by the Suffolk training team that includes a strategic mix of online training, virtual instructor-led training (VILT), instructor-led training (ILT), and ancillary instructional materials. These materials were banded within specific Suffolk competencies to increase the learner’s level of proficiency.

Suffolk selected KDG InterActive to take on the task of developing all the online training courses. KDG worked closely with Suffolk’s training team and subject matter experts (SME’s) to determine the best design approach to create engaging online courses.

Some of the course topics include Preconstruction, Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), Budget and Change Management, Incident Management, Safety, Trade Partner Management and Project Closeout to name a few.

All the online courses are self-paced, with interactive content and quizzing at the end of each course. The courses are implemented in an LMS for tracking and proof of completion.

Employees have found that these online courses are educational and comprehensive, raising the level of improved performance and on-the-job safety.
